Plymouth-born Henry Slade made his way as a fly-half before later flourishing as an international-class centre. Slade went through the Exeter Chiefs academy set-up and also enrolled at the city’s university. He made his Chiefs first-team debut in 2013. He starred for England Under-18s and England Under-20s before making his full international debut in 2014. Slade came off the bench as Exeter won their first Premiership title in 2017.
He played a central role in Chiefs’ incredible double-winning 2020 season, picking up man of the match in the Premiership final win over Wasps in torrid conditions at Twickenham. He crowned a fantastic year – in which he welcomed his first child – by winning the Six Nations and Autumn Nations Cup with England. Slade wears Nike Mercurial Superfly Elite’s to help aid his guile and staunchly accurate left-footed kicking.
