Flanker Josh van der Flier was born in Dublin but has Dutch ancestry through the grandparents on his father’s side. A young star at Wesley College, Van der Flier made his senior Leinster debut while still with the academy in October 2014. Van der Flier made his full Ireland debut – having played for both the Under-18 and Under-20 sides – against England at Twickenham. He came on as a first-half replacement in the infamous win over New Zealand in Chicago. Van der Flier made the squad for the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan. He has scored two tries in 28 tests for his country and wears the Adidas Predator Malice Soft Ground.
