Joe Marler is known for his eye-catching mullets and mohawks on the rugby field as well as his ferocious scrummaging and work rate as one of the country’s best props. Loosehead Marler joined the Harlequins academy as an 18-year-old in 2008. He captained England Under-18s and starred for the Under-20s in the 2009 Junior World Cup. Marler starred for Quins as they won their only Premiership title in 2011-12. And he was rewarded for his good form with a full England debut in 2012. Marler skippered his club side in the 2014-15 season, taking over from international leader Chris Robshaw. Marler made the British and Irish Lions tour to New Zealand, making five appearances.

But in 2018 he decided to retire from international rugby to spend more time with his family, before later reversing the decision to make the England World Cup squad in 2019 as the Red Rose finished runners-up in Japan. Marler was controversially banned for 10 weeks for grabbing Wales captain Alun Wyn Jones by the testicles in the 2020 Six Nations. He came off the bench in the Autumn Nations Cup final in December 2020 as England beat France in sudden death at Twickenham. Marler dons the Adidas Kakari Elites boots on the field.
