Sam Underhill was born in the United States but was raised in Gloucester. A ferocious flanker Underhill captained England Under-18s in 2014. He came through the Gloucester academy and made his senior debut for the Cherry and Whites aged just 17. Underhill chose to study at Cardiff University and after featuring for Bridgend he was snapped up by the Ospreys.

Underhill eventually left university to focus on rugby full time and was rewarded with a three-year deal at Premiership side Bath in 2017. Underhill made his debut in Argentina in 2017 and has forged a strong partnership with fellow flanker Tom Curry.

The pair were dubbed the ‘Kamikaze Kids’ by coach Eddie Jones during the 2019 World Cup in Japan. Both started the tournament final which England lost to South Africa. Underhill penned a three-year extension at the Rec in January 2020. Renowned for his dominant tackling in defence, Underhill favours the Nike Mercurial Vapor Elites to give him the edge on the field.
