CJ Stander was born in South Africa and qualifies for Ireland on residency having moved to Munster in 2012. The versatile backrower is predominantly a No8 but is equally adept on the flank. Stander played for the Blue Bulls in the Currie Cup and the Bulls in Super Rugby before setting up home in Ireland. Stander had represented South Africa Schools and Under-18s before spending three years with Munster to qualify for his adopted nation. He made his Ireland debut in 2016 against Wales in the Six Nations and was named man of the match. He has been a regular feature in the side since, featuring in the 2018 Grand Slam. He earned a spot on the British and Irish Lions tour to New Zealand in 2017 before starring in the Rugby World Cup in Japan in 2019. Stander was named Ireland Player of the Year for 2015-16 and has won 46 caps before his retirement in 2021. He wears Adidas Predator Malice Control Soft Ground boots.
