Back rower Aaron Wainwright was a late bloomer when it came to rugby only getting stuck into the sport in Year 11 at school after previously being a more than handy footballer. After flirting with the Dragons academy, Wainwright went to university at Cardiff Met and got involved in the established rugby system. After featuring for Newport RFC, Wainwright made his debut for the Dragons in 2017. A meteoric rise was completed when he won his first cap for Wales against Argentina in 2018. He was selected for the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan and helped Wales to a fourth-place finish. He was named man of the match in the quarter-final against France. Wainwright has scored one try in 27 tests.
