Welsh backrower Ross Moriarty was born on Merseyside while his dad Paul was playing rugby league. Moriarty grew up in Swansea but went on to play for England in age group rugby despite his father being a former Wales international. He made his Red Rose Under-18 debut in 2012 before graduating to the 2013 Under-20 Six Nations. He won the 2014 Junior World Cup with England. Moriarty studied at Hartpury College, affiliated with Gloucester, and made his debut for the Cherry and Whites in 2012. He finished at Hartpury in 2014. Moriarty declared himself for Wales at a senior level and made his international debut against Ireland in 2015 before being called up to the World Cup squad as an injury replacement. Moriarty received the news he had been called up to the 2017 British and Irish Lions tour to New Zealand on his 23rd birthday. He returned to Wales with the Dragons in 2018 and wears the Puma King Pro Soft Ground boots.
